After the Northern Ohio Golf Association’s Scratch Stroke Play Championship at Shaker Heights Country Club last Monday, the first Player of the Year points have been awarded and the Match Play Brackets are now set.

Great Lakes Auto NetworkHere’s what to expect and current standings from both of these season-long competitions, part of the 2020 NOGA Great Lakes Auto Scratch Series.

2020 Scratch Match Play Championships

Based on scoring from Shaker, 30 players have been set into brackets in the Championship Division and 31 players in the Senior Division for season-long match play.

All matches in both divisions are conducted at scratch, with the lower seeded player in each match allowed to select the site of the match.

Players schedule and play their matches before a series of pre-set deadlines: Round of 32 by June 28; Round of 16 by July 19; Quarterfinals by August 9; Semifinals by August 30; and the Finals by September 20th.

2020 NOGA Player of the Year Points Races

Players earn points from their finish in each NOGA Great Lakes Auto Scratch Series event, plus for finishes in big events like the NEO Am, the Ohio Open, the Ohio Am and Mid-Am, and USGA qualifying tournaments (but not this year).

The top 24 points earners in each division who play in at least three NOGA Scratch Series events will earn a trip to Firestone Country Club on September 13-14 to play the West and South Courses in the 2020 Great Lakes Auto NOGA Tour Championship!
