Greater Cleveland Skins Game: Week 18

Greater Cleveland Skins Game

Greater Cleveland Skins GameStormy skies and a rain-shortened event made for a small field on Thursday at Quail Hollow. But Steve Blackburn Jr. made a charge up the leaderboard by capturing the only skin and a pin shot at the Weiskopf Course.

The field played six holes before the skies unloaded. Three holes were birdied, but two of those birdies were canceled on holes 1 and 6.

Blackurn’s birdie on the par-4 fourth hole, where he knocked his second shot just two feet away, held for the only skin worth $105. Blackburn also took the pin shot on the par-three third hole worth $14.

Mike Angie, the current Skins Game leader, grabbed the pin shot on the fifth hole for $14 — and he needed it to maintain a VERY slim lead of $11 over Blackburn as the chase continues for the Thompson Cup.

Next week, the Greater Cleveland Skins Game travels to Fowlers Mill Golf Course starting at 4:30 pm. Complete schedule here. Just two more weeks to try to qualify for The Greater Cleveland Shoot-Out — event and entry details coming soon…
