To do this well, NOGA needs your help.
The goal of the USGA Championship Qualifying Volunteer Program is to assist the NOGA staff with vital aspects of conducting a first-class championship qualifier, and to provide each dedicated volunteer with a unique and exciting experience.
Time Commitment: All volunteers will be asked to commit to a minimum of two (2) shifts throughout the year, with each shift lasting approximately six (6) hours. During each shift volunteers will receive food and beverages.
Volunteer Package: Volunteers will receive one (1) NOGA golf shirt, a wind jacket and a piece of headwear, in addition to food and beverages during each shift. Volunteers who fulfill the minimum shift requirements, will be invited to participate in a volunteer appreciation golf outing at the end of the season.
Committee Assignments: Several committees will comprise the 2019 Volunteer Programs (listed below). Volunteer opportunities are largely granted on a first-come, first-served basis.
Marshals: Stationed at locations throughout the course with a focus on tees, landing areas, and greens. Championship volunteers are responsible for the enforcement of standard golf etiquette including control of spectator noise and movement during play; alert spectators when golf balls are headed their direction.
Shuttle Drivers: Responsible for On-Course player shuttles – locations in several areas. Transport golfers and caddies.
Starters: Introduce players to their playing competitors while providing instruction about the terms of play before you introduce the players and start their round of either #1 tee or #10 tee. Other duties may include radioing for missing players and making sure printed materials are stocked.
Scoring Area: Support the staff in scoring tent to collect scorecards, verify scores are added correctly, and scorecards are properly signed by contestants. May involve computers or other technology. Other duties may include delivering cards to the scoreboard.
Live Scoring: Record scores on a handheld device that is used to track each player’s score for a certain stretch of holes. May require extended periods outside.
