A brand new professional / amateur golf tour is launching in Northeast Ohio in 2010, featuring 20 events played at some of the area’s best golf courses on weekdays throughout the summer.
(And as a “sneak preview bonus”, Northeast Ohio Golf readers have a chance to save some money by becoming a member FOR FREE — so keep reading!)
Local senior professional Mike Hastings is launching The Medalist Tour in May 2010, and he already has dates secured at the golf courses you’d expect to see on the schedule (see NEOHgolf.com’s Tournament Calendar for the complete list).
The Medalist Tour will be open to golfers of all levels, consisting of two divisions: Professional/Open and “Index”. At each tournament, the two divisions will have separate flights for seniors, women and amateurs. Prize money / gift certificate payouts will be based on entry numbers, with a third of the field to be paid in each flight at each event.
Annual membership is $195 for the Professional/Open Division and $75 in the Amateur Index Division. But here’s a great deal for NEOHgolf.com readers: the first 100 players to register for membershiop at the tour’s website can do so for free! So register now at TheMedalistTour.com, as this new series is not yet widely promoted and getting a jump can save you a nice chunk of cash. (Click the “Membership Application” button in the nav list at the top.)
With a strong “2010 Advisory Board” made up of experienced local professionals Gary Trivisonno, Walt Robertson, Larry Manski, Mike Dessecker and Hastings, this new tour could become a fun, competitive option for players to really sharpen their games.
