Malone College’s NAIA National Champion Justin Lower ran away from the field Sunday in the final round of The Eastern Ohio Amateur Championship at River Greens Golf Club in Coshocton. Lower, a senior at Malone, matched Saturday’s 27-hole score of 6-under par with an identical score of 102 to post a 12-under par 204 total.
Stew Jameson, a former Ohio University standout, was second – for the second year in a row – at 210 (-6). Jordan Grubb was third with a 211. Richie Schembechler and Lynn Martin were next at 213; Martin also took the Senior Amateur Trophy.
Jon Mathias was sixth at one under par. There were four players tied for 7th place: Darren Phipps, Craig Bennington, Brad Lucas and Brandon Frame were all 1-over par.
In the Senior Division, Lynn Martin’s 213 was good for the victory; Ray Sovik was second with a 220; Jeff Sparks was third at 222 and Mark Mickley was fourth at 228.
