For the last two years, it’s been called the ‘Stroke Play Series’. For 2018, there is a new name: Northeast Ohio Golf Tournament Series.
What has been run solely as a series of Stroke Play events will become a mix of tournament formats going forward. Some of our Course Members have asked for more variety in tournament formats. And given the number of teams we had on the waiting list for the scramble we ran at Boulder Creek last fall, we will gladly honor this request.
But one feature that every player has loved — because we took great care to make sure it was fair for all — has been the use of different tee boxes by age with play under a single division. So to be clear: regardless of the format used going forward, every event of the Northeast Ohio Golf Tournament Series will continue to feature variable tee boxes played in a single division.
We will kick off the 2018 Tournament Series with an ams-only 2-Player Better Ball at Tam O’Shanter Golf Course in Canton on Sunday, April 22nd.
We will follow that in May with a pair of amateur-only 3-player scramble events:
a 3-M Scramble at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Streetsboro on Sunday, May 6th;
…and then a 3-M Scramble at Skyland Pines Golf Course in Canton on Sunday, May 20th on a golf course with new ownership and new upgrades.
Details of these three spring events are posted to the Tournament Calendar.
Within the next couple of weeks, we will announce some individual stroke play events as well, to fill out the open dates in the summer months.
After that, we’ll get back into Pro-Am / Scramble mode with some events in October. Watch for a big October scramble announcement coming in the weeks ahead — it’s gonna be a doozie!
