The 2013 Cleveland Metroparks golf event season is ready to begin, and will feature the return of our “Player of the Year” point series and bonus pool!
David Sotka will start the defense of his “Player of the Year” title at the 4-Player Scramble at Sleepy Hollow on Saturday, May 4th. Complete season schedule below.
Just as last year, all players finishing in the top ten of our Spring and Fall Tour events along with the various Greater Cleveland Amateurs and the Tour Championship will earn Player of the Year (POY) points. Individual medal play events will award the most points.
Sleepy Hollow will host the Greater Cleveland Amateur Championship (GCAC) this year, on August 9 ““ 11. Nick Paladino is the defending champion.
Big Met will once again be the site of the Senior GCAC on July 17 ““ 18 with Steve Blackburn defending his win last year.
The Women’s GCAC at Shawnee Hills will add a Senior Division this year. Amy Suleiman is the defending champ in that event.
Over 140 golfers earned POY points last year in the inaugural pool. If participation levels in all events hold the same as last year, the top ten point-earners will be paid in gift cards out of a pool of over $2,000! These POY gift cards can be used for most anything at any of the Cleveland Metroparks golf courses, including paying entry fees for this year’s events — a nice feature, as most players in the top ten have plenty of merchandise credit built up.
Players can see the complete schedule of events and register on-line at the Golf Tournaments Page of ClevelandMetroparks.com. Players can also register by calling any of the golf courses, or paying in person in the pro shops.
On behalf of the PGA pros at all of our facilities, we look forward to some great fun and solid tournament competition in 2013 at the golf courses of the Cleveland Metroparks!
