Steve Blackburn Sr. was as hot as the weather at Erie Shores Golf Course on Thursday evening.
How about two eagle skins hot!
Blackburn Sr. made eagle on the 475-yard par five 15th hole at the Shores, and then followed that up at the 275-yard par four 17th hole.
Last week, Blackburn Sr. also won an eagle skin at Fowlers Mill on hole 5.
His pair of skins at Erie Shores paid $153.33 each.
Blackburn Sr.’s hot streak moves him up to fourth place on the Leaderboard and puts him in excellent position to gain one of the top five qualifying spots in this years Greater Cleveland Amateur Championship, to be played at Manikiki GC in August.
Dave Sotka, last year’s Skins Game Champion, grabbed the other skin won on the night with the only birdie on the par-five 13th hole.
Other winners on the evening were newcomer Jamie Miller from Madison with a pin shot on the 210-yard par three 12th hole, and Geoff Nicely with the pin shot on the 180-yard par three 16th hole. Pin shots paid $70 each.
The golf course was in excellent shape and it was the ideal place to play in 97 degree weather: right next to the shores of Lake Erie in Madison on a hot June evening.
Next week the Skins Game travels to Sugarbush Golf Course in Garretsville starting at 5 p.m. for a one time stop for the season.
