Mother Nature is taking its toll on the 2011 Greater Cleveland Skins Game season.
Nine brave (crazy?) golfers dodged the raindrops and lightning bolts at Powderhorn Golf Course for this Thursday’s skins and pins event.
And one of the brave crazies is the new leader in the race for the Thompson Cup.
Five skins were out on the night, worth $41.40 each.
Mark Foss birdied the long and difficult par-four 10th hole to start the night.
Next, Steve Blackburn Jr. birdied the par-four 11th for a winner, then his father Steve Sr. grabbed the next available skin with a birdie on the 12th hole.
Geoff Nicely made his first skin of 2011 with birdie on the par-four 13th hole.
And Dave Sotka birdied the 175-yard par-three 14th hole for a skin — and with it the 2011 money list lead by 21 bucks.
Pin shot winners ($31.50 each) were Steve Blackburn Jr. hitting it to 5 feet on the 14th and missing the putt (with Dave Sotka giving thanks), and Mike Angie on the 17th hole by knocking it to 5 feet.
Next week the Greater Cleveland Skins Game travels to Fowlers Mill Golf Course in Chesterland, with play starting at 5 p.m.
