Twenty four player sloshed their way around a soaked Punderson State Park Golf Course in Newbury on Thursday under bright blue skies in the Greater Cleveland Skins Game.
Everyone went home wet and muddy, but four players went home wet, muddy and happy.
Dave Sotka of Chardon wasted no time making birdie on the first hole, which held up for a skin. The first hole played long under the soggy conditions and even longer still into the wind, and Sotka took home $184 as one of three skins won on the night.
Paul Kish made the most of his first trip of the year to the Greater Cleveland Skins Game, as his birdie held up on the par-five sixth hole when he drained a 25-foot putt.
The final skin of the week went to Mark Borlin of Solon, who had the only birdie on the difficult 425-yard signature 8th hole with a 15-foot putt.
Mark Foss took dead aim on both of the par threes — and took home both pin shots! Foss knocked it within a foot of the hole on the 157-yard 7th hole, and then hit it to 10 feet on the 9th hole. Foss took home $168.00 for both pin shots.
In earning his second skin of the season, Sotka closes the gap on Thompson Cup leader Dan Predovic, moving to within $64 of the lead.
