It’s turning into a two-man tussle, back and forth.
Dan Predovic of Berea made yet another move to regain the top spot he held for several weeks on the 2011 Greater Cleveland Skins Game Leaderboard. Thursday at Fowlers Mill, Predovic grabbed both pin shots and sank a 20-foot putt for a birdie skin on the 180-yard par three 7th hole to win a skin.
Watch out, Dave Sotka.
Predovic took advantage of leader Sotka’s absence on Thursday to close the gap on the top spot, earning $68 and $51 for the two pin shots and $97.75 for his skin. Predovic has his sites set on his first-ever Thompson Cup as the season nears its midpoint, as he trails Sotka by less than $193.
Also cashing in on this July 7th night — for the first time this season! — was 2010 Skins Game Champion Eddie Neer with a birdie on the long par-4 first hole. Neer is the defending Greater Cleveland Skins Game champion.
Carl “Unk” Quercioli continued his torrid play as well, chipping in for a birdie skin on the 210-yard par-3 third hole. That skin moves Unk into third place on the Leaderboard.
And multiple-time champion Steve Blackburn Jr. made a birdie after hitting it to four feet on the tough par-4 fourth hole to round out the four skins won on the night.
Next week, the Greater Cleveland Skins Game moves to Quail Hollow Golf Club (Weiskopf) starting at 5 p.m. Remember, the top five players on the Leaderboard after next week’s play will gain an exemption into the finals of the Greater Cleveland Amateur Championship at Sleepy Hollow Golf Course in Brecksville in August.
