Brian Perkins made his first visit of the year to the Greater Cleveland Skins Game a very enjoyable night at Powderhorn Golf Course in Madison. Perkins, of Hamden Township in Geauga County, birdied three holes that all held up for skins worth $69 each, good for a $207 night. Perkins birdied the par-4 11th hole, the par-4 12th hole, and the par-5 16th hole, all for skin winners.
A total of six skins were out on the night. Mark Foss improved his position on the leaderboard with two skins, making birdie on the par-3 14th hole and holing a great eagle chip on the par-4 15th hole. Foss took home $138 on the night.
Steve Blackburn Jr. also cashed with a birdie skin on the long par-4 10th hole.
Tom Evans of Perry took back the top spot on the season-long leaderboard, as he cashed with a $63 pin shot on the 17th hole to move back ahead of Mark Julius.
Rob Shustrich also found his way onto the leaderboard with a pin shot on the 14th hole.
Next week Thursday, June 17th, the Greater Cleveland Skins Game moves to Quail Hollow Country Club starting at 5 p.m. with a $25 green fee rate with cart. Players are reminded that they have only one more week left to qualify for the big “Double Down” event to be held Thursday, June 24th at Chardon Lakes. The stakes are doubled to $60 that night, but players must have played at least twice this year in the Greater Cleveland Skins Game to play that evening.
SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: The top 5 players as of July 15 on the Greater Cleveland Skins Game Leaderboard will be granted exemptions into the 2010 Greater Cleveland Amateur Championship, to be held at Manikiki in August. Thanks to Mike Raby and the Cleveland Metroparks Golf staff for the exemptions.
