The Chippewa Championship has grown into a full-field event, last year attracting 107 players. [2008 results.] And a change in the skins game this year might grow the field more.

For 2009, a single $50 Big Skins Game (optional entry on the first tee Saturday) will be played over the two tournament days, providing 36 equal chances for a huge skin payday. So if a skin is made on the 12th hole of the first day and on the 22nd and 34th holes from round two, the three “big skins” winners will divide the total pot equally. This single Big Skins Game is expected to generate a total pot somewhere in the $4,000 range — so hole one from the fairway, baby!

Prizes will be paid to the top five stroke play finishers in the field — and the tournament winner also earns the coveted Chippewa Golf Club membership for the 2010 season! There will also be pari-mutuel wagering available for both individuals and pre-determined teams.
