Ohio Public Golf AssociationJohn Zitkovic of Findlay shot a sizzling score of 5-under par 139 in the 2010 Ohio Senior Public Links Championship this weekend at Hiawatha Golf Club in Mt. Vernon, earning a one shot victory over Rich Miller of Columbus.

2010 Cleveland Senior Am champ Norton Brick of Elyria finished in third place at 2-under par 142, while Lynn Martin of Findlay finished fourth another shot back.

And Lorain County legend Jerry Fisher of Amherst summoned some of his good feelings from Ohio Publinx events of yore to grab a solid T5 finish with an even par score of 144! Complete results follow… [Read more →]

 

FINAL RESULTS: 2010 USGA Mid-Am Local Qualifier

USGAJim Perry of Canfield and Todd Humrichouser of Westerville tied for medalist honors at the USGA’s Mid-Amateur Championship Local Qualifying Tournament today, finishing with a 2-under par score of 69 at the Shale Creek Golf Club in Medina, Ohio.

Mike Hyland of Ottawa Hills also advanced through the qualifier with an even par score of 71.

The final qualifying spot went to Canton’s Nick Lambos after a playoff win over Douglas Ray of Alliance, as both players finished with a score of 1-over par 72. [Read more →]

Ohio Golf AssociationMichael Bernard of the Dayton suburb of Huber Heights became the youngest champion in the 104-year history of the Ohio Amateur Championship today. The 16-year-old posted a final-round even-par 71 at Kirtland Country Club in Willoughby to finish the 72-hole tournament with a score of 7-under 277, good for a five shot victory. [Read more →]

Amateurs Dominate U.S. Open Local Qualifying

USGAIn an event typically dominated by professionals, amateurs Patrick Rodgers of Avon, IN and Dr. Jeff Mallette of North Canton claimed the top two places of seven total spots in Thursday’s U.S. Open local qualifying event at Weymouth Country Club in Medina.

Rodgers posted a 4-under par 68 to take the medalist honors, while Mallette shot 2-under par 70 to tie with professional Garrett Frank of Youngstown for second place. And the “am invasion” didn’t stop there. [Read more →]
