Ty Kovach Roars to Impressive Victory in 2010 Chippewa Championship

Champion Ty Kovach attempts his birdie putt on the 11th hole at Chippewa Sunday.
Ty Kovach of Medina played a spectacular round of golf in the most difficult of setups and conditions on Sunday to win the 2010 Chippewa Championship in convincing fashion.
Kovach posted a sterling even par 71 in windy conditions (and with those hole locations!) to win by three shots over perennial champion David Oates of Canton. [Read more →]

A Request to Kevin Larizza Regarding the Upcoming Chippewa Championship

In the past, Chippewa Golf Club owner Kevin Larizza has set a few of his championship’s hole locations in what only can be described as “ironman scramble pins”. This setup has led often to huge scores for a number of players, as the sloping greens of Chippewa can send even well-played pitches and putts racing off down the hills.
Kevin has pulled back on this practice a bit in the last couple of years. But here and now I ask Kevin directly to eliminate “ironman pins” from the Chippewa Championship all together: the quality golf course conditions that superintendent Brad Stewart provides should stand alone as the challenge of the event. Munson Trustees Waffle on Fowlers Lunacy

The Munson Township trustees had their first public meeting last night about the proposed purchase and closing of Fowlers Mill Golf Course for water restoration and the creation of a rural park. A whopping crowd of over 200 people showed up at the meeting to voice their disgust over this idea, and the Munson Township trustees did their best to placate the crowd by downplaying and/or deferring their decision as final.
