The Northern Ohio Section of the PGA of America confirmed to the Akron District Golf Association on Friday that the ADGA’s 2011 Golfer of the Year winners in both the main and senior divisions will be awarded a fully-paid exemption into the 2012 MinuteMenJobs.com Ohio Open events for their respective divisions. Ronnie Bell rolls a long birdie effort on #2; he and Jim Cea take the ADGA 2-M BB Senior Division.

Jason Chadima holed a 6-iron from 175 yards for eagle on a par-5 while Mark Thomas made a bundle of birdies.

Jim Cea and Ron Bell showed that age means little and that getting it in the hole means everything, winning the Senior Division with the same final score as the main division.

A big field is shaping up for the Akron District Golf Associations 2011 inaugural event, the Parke H. Thornton Two-Man Better Ball at Turkeyfoot Lake Golf Links in Akron this Saturday, May 7th.

A whopping 45 teams are already registered and entries close Wednesday at 10 p.m. To sign up, visit the ADGA website.

The Akron District Golf Association (ADGA), in its quest for the betterment of amateur golf in the greater Akron community, continues to refine its tournament schedule, formats, and payouts to provide its members with the best competition in the Akron area.

Champion Mike Simpson hits his final tee shot at the ADGA Golfer of the Year tournament.

In truly challenging weather conditions this weekend, Mike Simpson earned a one shot victory in the Akron District Golf Association’s Golfer of the Year Tournament at the West and North Courses at Firestone Country Club in Akron.

And with that victory, Simpson also won the ADGA’s 2010 Player of the Year honors. [Read more →]

The teams of Mike Simpson & Dave Oates and Dave Trier & Dan Marr shared top honors in the 2010 ADGA Lazor 2-Man better ball event at Chippewa Golf Club on Saturday.

Lambos put together a solid round of even par 72 on Sunday at the challenging Seven Hills Country Club in Hartville to win the 2010 ADGA Lanning’s 36-Hole Stroke Play Tournament by one shot over Aaron Crewes of Uniontown. [Read more →]
