ADGA Finalizes 2010 Golfer of the Year Invitations

The field has been set for the Akron District Golf Association’s 2010 Golfer of the Year tournament, to be played on Saturday, October 2nd at Firestone Country Club’s West Course and on Sunday, October 3rd at the North Course.

Three teams finished tied at the top at 4-under par 32 in the scramble format on the back nine at Chippewa on Monday, as the lingering effects of the golfing grind that is the Chippewa Championship were still evident. Malone College’s NAIA National Champion Justin Lower ran away from the field Sunday in the final round of The Eastern Ohio Amateur Championship at River Greens Golf Club in Coshocton. Lower, a senior at Malone, matched Saturday’s 27-hole score of 6-under par with an identical score of 102 to post a 12-under par 204 total. [Read more →]
Ty Kovach Roars to Impressive Victory in 2010 Chippewa Championship

Champion Ty Kovach attempts his birdie putt on the 11th hole at Chippewa Sunday.
Ty Kovach of Medina played a spectacular round of golf in the most difficult of setups and conditions on Sunday to win the 2010 Chippewa Championship in convincing fashion.
Kovach posted a sterling even par 71 in windy conditions (and with those hole locations!) to win by three shots over perennial champion David Oates of Canton. [Read more →]

Koprevic Leads After the First Round of the 2010 Chippewa Championship

Greg Tayler of North Royalton hits to 17 during round one of the 2010 Chippewa Championship.
Kenny Koprevic grabbed the first round lead of the Chippewa Championship today, posting a smooth 2-over par score of 73 to lead by one shot over defending champion Dave Oates of Canton.
Fred Miller and Ty Kovach sit tied for third place with a score of 75, while Jim Cea finished alone in fifth place at 76 after a roller-coaster round of 32-44. [Read more →]
2010 Medalist Tour: Lake Forest Results

As the rest of the field found Lake Forest Country Club’s tight fairways and fast greens extremely challenging, Vaughn Snyder had no problem: he was 7-under par as he teed off at the par-5 17th, and even a double-bogey 7 there couldn’t ruin his day. He parred the last hole and finished with a 5-under 67, beating runner-up David Ludlow by 8 shots. [Read more →]
2010 Greater Cleveland Skins Game: Week 18 Results

Eddie Neer wasted no time making birdies, pin shots and skins on Thursday night at the Quail Hollow Devlin Course to extend his lead to over $500 in the race for the 2010 Thompson Cup.
Neer birdied the par-4 10th hole to capture the first skin of the night. He then stuck it close on the following hole, the short par-3 11th, to earn the pin shot there, making his haul for the evening $178.20. [Read more →]

Scott Holmes of Blacklick was awarded $800 as the first place prize due to him from The Medalist Tour LLC by a magistrate in Canton Municipal Court today, after the magistrate surprisingly cited the Dustin Johnson episode at last weekend’s PGA Championship as one reason for the decision.
