Tie at the Top of 2010 ADGA 3-Man Shamble

Jim Cea tees off on the 17th hole at Lake Forest CC in the ADGA's 3-Man Shamble.
On an absolutely spectacular Sunday for golf in Northeast Ohio, a pair of teams shared the top spot in the Akron District Golf Association’s 3-Man Shamble at Lake Forest Golf Club in Hudson.
The team of Nick Lambos, Mike Simpson and Kurt Peterson tied for the win with the team of Randy Skorman, Dean Cutlip and Allen Freeman. Both teams finished at 13-under par 131 in the part scramble/part better ball format, where players select the best tee shot and play out individually from there, counting the two best scores for the team. Snyder Wins Medalist Tour’s Summit County Open in a Playoff; Crewse Low Am

After finishing in a 4-way tie at 4-under par 67, Vaughn Snyder won a playoff on the first extra hole in The Medalist Tour’s Summit County Open at Portage Country Club on Monday.
Snyder tied with Steven Lee, Eric Frishette and Tim Ailes, but only Snyder and Lee were available to participate in the playoff.
Aaron Crewse shot an even par round of 71 to win the Championship Flight in the Amateur Division by a shot over Brent Whitaker. [Read more →]
2010 Chippewa Scratch League: Week 3 Results

Mike Kracker and Jeff Mallette continued their march up the leaderboard in Week 3, grabbing a first-place tie with Steve Parker and Steve Robison in the combined score format on Monday.

Moss & Lombardi Take 2010 NOPGA Pro-Scratch

Professional Rob Moss partnered with am Joe Lombardi to win the Northern Ohio PGA’s Pro-Scratch Am tournament at Mayfield Country Club on Monday. The pair shot a 6-under par 65 in the better ball format to win by a single shot over two teams. Complete results here.

Amateurs Dominate U.S. Open Local Qualifying

In an event typically dominated by professionals, amateurs Patrick Rodgers of Avon, IN and Dr. Jeff Mallette of North Canton claimed the top two places of seven total spots in Thursday’s U.S. Open local qualifying event at Weymouth Country Club in Medina.
Rodgers posted a 4-under par 68 to take the medalist honors, while Mallette shot 2-under par 70 to tie with professional Garrett Frank of Youngstown for second place. And the “am invasion” didn’t stop there. [Read more →]
