The Greater Cleveland Skins Game visited Thunder Hill Golf Course in Madison on Thursday, and the big skins winners were Jim Lebzelter with a birdie on the hole 5, Josh Krause with a birdie on 6, and Mike Angie with a birdie on 7. Skins were worth $99.33 each.

Steve Blackburn Jr. came back to life with the pin shot winner on the 9th hole, while Josh Krause nabbed the pin shot on hole 3.

Lebzelter moves up eight places on the leaderboard and Angie moves into sixth place in quest of the Thompson Cup. Blackburn Jr. still holds on to lead of the Greater Cleveland Skins game after being shut out for a tough six weeks.
 
The Skins Game moves to Pleasant Hills this Thursday, August 7th starting at 5:30pm.  Green Fee rates will be $17.50 riding and $10.50 walking. Any players that want to play a “warm up 9 hole round” before the scheduled skins game must call the course first to make such arrangements.

Mark Foss and Nick Anagnost made the most of “Double Down” week, each taking home a skin worth $322.

Foss birdied the 170-yard 11th hole, while Nick Anagnost made birdie on lucky #13 after missing his tee shot badly and leaving himself a 175 yard second on the short par 4.

The Blackburn family took home the two pin shots, worth $98 each. Steve Blackburn Sr. had the pin shot on 11, while Steve Jr. hit the flag on 14 for his pin shot (but missed the putt).

Foss climbs all the way up to second place after his big night, and Anagnost moves up 11 spots to the fifth position.

Steve Blackburn Jr. maintains the top spot on the Greater Cleveland Skins Game leaderboard, and is half way home to winning the Thompson Cup.

The team of Mike Armour and Danny Marr posted a solid 4-under par scramble score on the back nine of Chippewa GC Monday to beat back a host of teams by a single shot.

Equally noteworthy was the single big skin won with a birdie on the 14th hole by the team of Charlie Mozingo and Jeff Hettler, worth a whopping $530.

Todd Selzer lit up the front nine at Chippewa Golf Club with a 4-under par 31, and then followed it up with a strong 35 on the difficult back nine to win the CGA stroke play event on Sunday.

The team of Vaughn Snyder and Dave Oates won the Akron District Golf Association’s 2008 Lazor Memorial Better Ball tournament today, and did so in convincing fashion.

Snyder, who on Friday won the 2008 Ohio Amateur Championship at Findlay CC, and his partner Oates, winner of last year’s Summit and Stark County Amateurs, cruised to a 6 & 5 win over the team of Jim Cea and Anthony Yacovazzi in the 36-hole final match at Rawiga CC.

Snyder and Oates played the first 18 holes of the final match in 7-under par.

But it took both teams a bit of work to make it to the finals. In Saturday morning’s quarterfinals at Chippewa GC, Larry Horner and Tim Davis gave Oates and Snyder a great run, but eventually lost to the championship pair on the final hole, 1-up.  Cea and Yacovazzi beat Randy Skorman in 19 holes; Skorman’s partner Dean Cutlip could not play, but Skorman made an admirable stand playing “1 on 2″.

In the semifinals on Saturday afternoon, Cea and Yacovazzi beat Aaron Crewse and Jeff Covert 2-up, while Oates and Snyder took down Tom Stiller and Mike Armour 2 & 1.
